Project Overview

  • 140 MW Capacity

  • Operation Starting in 2031

  • 30 Year BC Hydro Contract

  • $425M Investment

  • Long-term Sustainability

The Nilhts’i Ecoener Wind Project is a collaborative initiative between the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Ecoener, a multinational renewable energy company. Situated approximately 60 km southeast of Prince George, near the town of Hixon, British Columbia, the project is located within the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.  "Nilhts'i" is the word used for "Wind" in the Carrier language, the traditional language of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.

This 140MW (Megawatt) wind farm will be designed to generate approximately 360GWh (Gigawatt hours) of clean electricity a year, enough to power 31,000 BC homes. The project has secured a 30-year Electricity Purchase Agreement (EPA) with BC Hydro as part of the 2024 Call for Power, contributing to the province's projected electricity demand.

The partnership between the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Ecoener reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and economic reconciliation. Representatives of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation visited Ecoener’s headquarters in La Coruña, strengthening their strategic alliance. As the project progresses, updates and additional information will be provided to keep the community informed and engaged.

“As a Nation, we have focused our efforts on the development and acquisition of green energy, as stewards of lands, water, and air in our traditional territory. This project and our partner share our vision for creating sustainability at every step in the process, and this was critical in our Nations decision to partner with Ecoener to deliver the Nilhts’i Ecoener Wind Farm Project. Together, we are building a legacy of respect for the land and the environment.”

Chief Dolleen Logan of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

“This collaboration with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation is an example of our commitment to building strong, trust-based relationships with the local communities in the territories where we operate.”
